About the Film
Amy is only 13 years old when her mother is killed. She goes to Canada to live with her father, an eccentric inventor whom she barely knows. Amy is miserable in her new life... until she discovers a nest of goose eggs that were abandoned when a local forest was torn down. The eggs hatch and Amy becomes "Mama Goose". When winter comes, Amy and her dad must find a way to lead the birds South.
About the Series
Fly Away Home kicks off Spirited Films (Sponsored by City of Santa Fe Arts & Culture Department), a series of films about an emotion we all feel, but often avoid: grief! Each film spotlights a young person going on an adventure after losing someone most significant to them. Each film in the series will screen at Sky Midtown at 12:30pm on Saturday and 11:00am on Sunday. The series runs until 12/13. Tickets are $1 online and FREE in person.
About the Exhibition
Spirited Films plays at Sky Midtown while the City of Santa Fe Arts & Culture Department presents Spirited: New Mexico Art for the Afterlife, a community-centered exhibition featuring works by 50 artists from New Mexico.
The exhibition brings together diverse artistic perspectives on how we experience loss, honor those who came before us, and find meaning in the connections and traditions that endure. Curated by Arts & Culture Department staff Rebecca Aubin and Melissa Velasquez, along with guest curator Charine Pilar Gonzales (San Ildefonso Pueblo).
