Pre-Code Classic Film: The Thin Man, a holiday special

The Thin Man is many things: a comedy-drama classic, the first pairing of husband-and-wife sleuths Nick and Nora Charles, so memorably played by William Powell and Myrna Loy, with their almost constant flippant banter, and the world premiere of Asta, the big screen’s most famous pooch. It’s also a holiday film—all the action takes place in New York around Christmas time—and the film features many memorable moments of holiday revelry, capped by a hung-over Nick shooting ornaments off the tinseled tree with a BB gun Nora gave him, while she lounges in a full-length mink he can’t remember buying for her.

Pasatiempo author and Renesan regular Mark Tiarks will offer a 25-minute introduction, followed by a screening of the 90-minute film.

Coffee and pastries from La Rana Coffee and classic movie theater concessions from Sky Midtown will be available in the lobby.
